5 Ways to Get Rid of Unwanted Clothes

We’re all guilty of buying things that we wear once and then they end up sitting in the back our wardrobes gathering dust and then we end up running out of space to store the clothes we do wear!

So we pull out of the things we don’t wear anymore or never had, we’re ruthless about it and then we’ve suddenly piles and piles clothing all over the bedroom floor. Now what?

Well they can’t stay there forever so I’ve come up with my top way to get rid of unwanted clothes.

Charity Shops

Granted this is an obvious one but, since it’s for a good cause I thought I’d include it anyway.

Just be aware that some places do require you to have membership card to donate and they may have too many of certain items so could only take part of your haul.

However this is bay the far the easiest way to get rid of anything you don’t want anymore.

 Swap Meet

This is my favourite one as it involves a fair amount of socialising, food and if you’re over 18 a few drinks, which is always a winner.

Invite your friends to bring over all their unwanted goodies, put on a spread, open a bottle of wine and dive into it.

Anything that isn’t taken by your friends can be donated to charity shop at a later date and you’ll have a few nice new pieces to add to your own collection.

As they say “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

 eBay

If you’re looking to earn a little extra cash then this is definitely the option for you!

You can either pop all your items online separately (this works well if you have a few pieces that are worth more than the others) or you can do a job lot sale and get rid of it all at the same time.

A couple of things to be aware of, eBay take a percentage of your sale, you’ll need to work out the correct postage or you could end up making a loss and if you sell your clothes individually you may end up making more than one trip to the Post office.

Get Crafty

Just because you wouldn’t wear them the way they are now doesn’t mean that with a little know how and some elbow grease you couldn’t make something entirely new.

If you’ve never attempted anything like this before then why not rope in a relative or friend is gifted at crafts especially sewing to help you.

They’ll enjoy spending time doing something different and passing on their skills and you’ll be taking your first steps in creating a truly individual look.

Facebook

If you’re not too bothered about getting anything substantial in return (you simply want it all gone) then Facebook have plenty of groups/pages for buying and selling in your area.

Some groups you may have to ask to be accepted on but that shouldn’t be a problem, then you just post some pictures of your clothing, add a description of the item and the price you want for it.

Once someone displays interest you can discuss the details over private messaging and sort out time for them to pick up the items and pay you.

Hey Presto it really is that simple!

If you have any other ideas about how to get rid of unwanted clothes please let me know.
