How to wear makeup to school (without getting caught)

Yes, yes I know you’re not meant to wear makeup to school but I also know that some people especially teenagers suffer with confidence issues and having a bit of makeup on can make you feel better.

So here is my guide to wearing subtle makeup to school that no one will notice but will just give you that extra bit of confidence, that we all need from time to time.

Foundation

The trick to wearing foundation at school without being asked to remove it is to make sure that you have the right shade on. When you buy a new foundation put little bit of the tester on your face and then go out into natural light to look at it; you’ll be able to tell instantly whether it’s the right shade. Do not use your arm for this!

Using a damp beauty blender or complexion sponge will allow you to get a more natural and seamless finish just remember not to go too heavy as that’s a dead giveaway. I recommend using a BB cream such as the one available from Garnier for school as this will give you the most natural coverage as well as sunscreen and other benefits.

Mascara

This was the one that I always got caught out on during my time at secondary school. So I’ve come up with an ingenious solution to this which is also good if you want to wear mascara to gym or swimming and don’t want it travelling down your cheeks.

Rimmel have a brilliant mascara on the market at the moment which actually dyes your lashes (I can confirms that it works) it also give great separation and lift. So all you need to do is apply it in the evening and wear it at the weekend which will leave you lashes nice and dark and you’ll just need to give them a curl and you’re ready to go!

Blush and Highlight

The trick with wearing these two items is to keep them matte nothing screams cosmetics like a bit sparkle. Use a cream blush in a subtle colour and either use a matte highlight shade from an eyeshadow palette or Benefit do beautiful matte liquid highlighter.

Eyebrows

Do not fill them in, I repeat do not fill them in. A bold brow will not fly with your teachers trust me. Instead just enhance what you natural have by using a clear or tinted eye brow mascara. It will tame unruly eyebrows and give you little definition. I love NYX tinted brow mascara.

Lipstick

No, don’t even think about, it will give away the whole game (same goes for eyeshadow). Stick to a lip balm like Vaseline; they are good for lips and generally not against school policy.

I hope all this helped you out. Have fun outside of school with makeup, plus if you look natural during the week your makeup will have a bigger impact at the weekends.

Big Love
