Top 10 Make Up Tips
There is a lot of information about makeup online including
brands, techniques and tools but I thought that today I would share my favourite
tips with you.
Test new makeup on your neck
If you test a new foundation or concealer on the back of
your hand or wrist (like a lot of people do) you are likely to get a false
match. However testing it to your neck colour will give you a shade that is a
perfect match.
To get a strong colour use a white liner
To really make the most of the bold eyeshadows use white
eyeliner on your lids beforehand; this will give you a clean neutral base to make
the bright colours pop!
Set your eyes whilst looking up
Whilst applying your under eye concealer and powder look up.
This will stop it from settling into and creases and drawing attention to them.
Use a nude eyeliner in your waterline.
Run a nude eyeliner along your waterline to make your eyes
look bigger and more awake.
Use eyeshadow as a smokey liner
Spray Fix Plus (or any other fixing spray) onto an angled
liner brush and dip into a dark eyeshadow then run along the lash line for the
perfect day time alternative to liquid liner.
Use scotch tape to get the perfect liquid eyeliner
This is an oldie but a goody! If you struggle with liquid
eyeliner then this will be a game changer for you. Place the tape on the outer
corner of your eye following the angle of the lower lash line and start the
liner thinly at first from the middle of the eye, dragging it towards the edge
whilst the gradually making the line thicker. The use the tape as stencil to
draw on your wing, once you’re done remover the tape and hey presto a precision
wing!
Use colour correcting concealer
Invest a colour correcting palette. Use the green to cover
redness such as blemishes, purple to counteract any yellow tones and a red or
orange concealer to cover and blue tones such as under eye circles.
Learn your eye/face shape and skin tone
Discovering what type of shape your face and eyes are is
important because depending the shape you may need to place products slightly
higher or lower to get the desired effects this is especially true during
contouring. You should also find out whether you have warm or cool toned skin;
this will allow you to choose colour that will compliment your tone.
Find a signature look
Try out lots of different day time looks until you find one
that you look and then practise it until it’s perfect. This will allow you to
get ready in flash even when you’re in a rush.
Clean your brushes
I cannot stress this enough! If you don’t clean your tools
you’ll basically be putting a bacteria factory on your face which will lead to
breakouts; so make sure your sponges are cleaned after every use and your make
up brushes are cleaned properly once a week.
Hope these help and let me know if you have any tips that I haven’t
mentioned?
Big Love
